Modern dance is at the heart of RoCo. A fusion of techniques designed to develop a strong and conscience body that is dynamic, spacially aware, intellegent and musical. Class begins with a series of excersises to warm up and progressively prepare the dancer for longer movement phrases to practice and refine.

  Jazz
Jazz is a traditional Broadway, commercial style dance form. Think Bob Fosse or even Paula Abdul. This sultry, lyrical and sometimes flashy style is based on a traditional technical warm-up and exercises designed to develop the dancer’s strength, placement, musicality and performance style. A Jazz Slipper is encouraged.

  Modern Jazz
Modern Jazz explores a blended style of dance, allowing dancers to bridge the gap between genres. The class begins in the center, combining stretch, strength, isolations, and alignment then progresses to poli-rhythmic floor exercises, followed by a movement phrase ranging from hard hitting, to soft and fluid. Bare feet.

  Ballet
Roco offers ballet in a non-intimidating atmosphere for the new or returning student, as well as the experienced dancer. Ballet begins with a traditional series at the barre followed by exercises in the center of the room designed to develop the dancer’s strength, musicality, performance style and confidence. Performed in ballet slippers.

This beginning ballet pointe class is for adults and teens 12 years or older. Students must have 2-3 continuous years of ballet training and permission from their ballet teacher.

  5 Rhythms
Follow with lightly instructed exercises, using the 5Rhythms (Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, Stillness), that will help you take your own movement out of prescribed steps and routines to discover: How does your body really want to move? What can you do to open up the body's curiosity and freedom of motion? The exercises we do will encourage a new way to move on and off the dance floor! All types of movers welcome

  Movement Research
Dance technique and improvisation based on the 5Rhythms. A class for the dancer to increase 5Rhyhms practice vocabulary and find freedom of movement in the body. This class is a bridge between technique and creativity. There will be exercises designed to help you find ways of moving that are different than your own movement patterns. Improvisation, choreography, and exploration of the different body parts and the 5 rhythms are also some of the things that we will be playing with. This class will also help the technical dancer find a freer way of moving outside the container of modern, ballet, or jazz.

  Urban Contemporary
This class founded by Eric Fenn, is a fusion of modern dance and urban/street aesthetics. Eric's background in Martial arts, hip hop, jazz, modern and african dance make his unique movement vocabulary and phrasing, earthy yet edgy. Move in and out of the ground with rhythm, musicality, pulse, flow, and release. Barefeet.

  Afro-Brazilian
Anna teaches the Carnaval Samba (Rio style, samba de roda and pagode style), popular forms such as Samba Reggae, Maracatu and specializes in Afro-Brazilian Folclorico. Anna is also an expert in breaking down the samba step for students and in teaching beginners.

  Morning Masala
Morning Masala. 'Masala'- a mix of hot spices in Hindi. The class exemplifies this word; it is a fun, high energy aerobic class that fuses 'Bhangra' (Indian folk style) with other traditional dance and exercise disciplines such as Yoga, Pilates and Ballet Barre. The class is accompanied by a unique mix of infectious Indian dhol (lively drums), Bollywood, Hip-Hop and world music soundtracks.

  Brazilian Rhythms
Brazilian Rhythms is a blend of Afro Brazilian popular dance, Samba, Samba Reggae and Afoxe combined with the Modern dance techniques of Dunham, Horton, and Silvestre. Participants are guided through a core strengthening warm up with isolations. Across the floor movement, and high energy choreography in front of the mirror. Set to both traditional and current music. Bare feet. All levels welcome.

  Cardio House™
This is a rhythm-based fitness class for those who want a great work out and to improve their "get-down" confidence on the dance floor. It is a non-intimidating approach to the fun street dance form called "house dance", which was born out of Chacago in the 80's. The warm-up incorporates core conditioning and yoga stretches.   Mary Sherman SculptĒ

  Pilates Mat
Pilates exercises challenge strength, flexibility, coordination and balance. They are performed with attention to form, efficiency, stablization and pelvic alignment. Focus is on breath, core power, joint mobility and sequential movement of vertebrae. This mat class is taught without a Reformer.
