Performances
There several types of showings/performances in the final week of your child’s session. Below you will find a description of each performance program we put on so you can gain a better understanding about which program your child is involved in.
1) Informal Studio Showings – (Pre-School and Intro) classes have an informal studio showing on the last day of the session. Your teacher will send you an email as we near the end to remind you of this date and time. Anyone is welcome to attend. Showings are held at RoCo and seating is provided either on the floor or in chairs.
2) Child Preview Show – (Kindergarten-1st grade “C1″ classes) have a performance at RoCo’s Mill Valley Studio. You will be sent an email from your teacher as to which show your child is in and what time they need to arrive for their dress rehearsal. Seating is limited. We reserve 2 tickets per performer for 10.00. There are 3-4 dances with a guest group performing in each show and runs approximately 20 minutes long. Costumes are relatively simple, either themed outfits we hope you can draw from your child’s wardrobe or ballet outfits we purchase with a maximum cost of $25.
3) RoCo Onstage Performances – (All classes not mentioned above)
These performances are held at Marin Center Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium in San Rafael. Almost all 2-5th grade classes prepare for the show during class time and classes 6th-12th rehearse outside of class in “Performance Workshops” These rehearsals are mandatory in order to participate in the show.
Each class has their own information page on the “Class Info” tab where we post all rehearsals, performance dates and times, updates and teacher contact. Every class has mandatory a dress rehearsal the weekend of the show at Marin Center. Please take this rehearsal seriously as we are strict about it’s mandatory attendance.
Marin Center is 2000 seat, union operated, professional auditorium. With that said, it is an expensive venue. We are locked into the same weekend dates each year and the ticket pricing is a direct reflection on the cost of production. Marin Center handles all box office, professional ushers, stage hands, stage managers, concessions and light and sound operators. We state this information so as to be transparent about why we charge $20+ per ticket and why rehearsals are so important. Tickets go on sale 4 weeks prior to the show.
Your teacher will keep you informed of costumes as we get closer to the show. They can be relatively simple, either themed outfits we hope you can draw from your child’s wardrobe or outfits you or we purchase with a maximum cost of $40.
