Alan is a popular and well-known dance educator, currently teaching at ROCO Dance, College of Marin, and in many public schools where he pioneered an arts education curriculum wedded to the California State Standards. His nationally acclaimed Musicality for Dancers Workshops trained many professional dancers and revealed the conscious path to artistry. In both jazz and contemporary modern, Dance Magazine acclaims: “Alan brings the heart of contemporary dance to life in a technically solid, musically aware and joyously expressive class.”
He has been on the faculty of the San Francisco Ballet School, Sacramento Ballet, Les Ballet Jazz du Montreal, Steps NY, the National Dance Institute and Regional Dance America. His teaching draws from a rich and diverse background on the Broadway stage, from Alvin Ailey Dance Center, the Jose Limon Co. and local legends such as Ed Mock, Nontsizi Cayou, Debra Brooks Vaughn and Alonzo King.
